Conspiracy!!!

We started our mini-unit about Conspiracy Theories. There are plenty out there...

Our challenge over the next couple of weeks is to:

• choose a Conspiracy Theory to investigate/research
• use databases, books, periodicals and the internet to find resources about both sides of the argument
• assess the quality of the resources you find
• come to a conclusion: Which side of the argument do you believe? Why?

Today, we burned some metals. Metals are elements. When they burn, they are reacting with the oxygen gas (another element) in the air. Some of the class took slo-mo videos of these awesome experiments.

Hokey Pokey

Today, we made hokey pokey as our introduction to thermal decomposition. Thermal decomposition is what makes the hokey pokey "rise".

We discussed the purpose of each ingredient and why the process was done this way.

Over the next few lessons, we will explore other thermal decomposition reactions.
